Georgina Pioneer Village Kids's Club (NEW in 2011!)
Use your imagination and travel back in time to join the Pioneer Village Kids' Club. During five themed hands-on programs, children
ages 9-12 will create great pioneer projects that reveal the exciting life of an early settler. From pin-hole cameras and ball-making,
DIY Ginger Ale to pot-chard puzzles, Pioneer Village Kids' Club promises to show you an old-fashioned good time.
| Themes |
Description |
| Say Cheese |
Express yourself through photography. Children will make and use a pioneer "point-and-shoot" pin-hole camera and,
through hands-on experience with artifacts, explore how early settlers captured their life on film. |
| Let's play ball! |
Children will investigate the history of various old-fashioned games that continue to be played today. Get
ready for ball making, stilt walking, and even leg wrestling, as children test their endurance across the extensive
pioneer village grounds. |
| Pioneer DIY |
Children will become pioneer scientists for the days as they learn about fermentation and see how early soda
was made. This hands-on science experiment will give pioneer scientists a chance to make and test their own
ginger ale and root beer. |
| If I had a hammer |
Gain hands-on experience with early construction tools and techniques as you gain a degree in pioneer
woodworking. Each child will leave with a carpentry project made in the village wood shop. |
| Can you dig it!? |
Become a junior archaeologist for the day and learn about the exciting ways archaeology tells us about our past.
Campers will get their hands dirty by simulating an actual dig and piecing together a "Pot-Shard Puzzle". |
